Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi said the agreement would pave the way for peace agreements with other nations and welcomed the suspension of unilateral annexation. Yesh Atid`s chairman Yair Lapid welcomed the agreement as a “important step” for normalization with the UAE and said it showed mutual agreements are the path to be path to be path for Israel`s relations with other nations, instead of unilateral steps like annexation. The president of the Israeli Workers` Party, Amir Peretz, also shared this view and said that Israel`s development and security were in such agreements. He hoped for a similar agreement with the Palestinians. But the “Abraham Accords,” as it is known as the Israel-UAE agreement, represent a significant change in the balance of power in the Middle East and are presented by Trump White House as an important foreign policy coup. The agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates promises to establish normal relations between the two countries. These include trade relations, tourism, direct flights, scientific cooperation and, in due course, full diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level. However, it is unlikely that the Emiratis will set up their embassy in Jerusalem. An important element of the Abraham agreement, although not explicitly formulated, is the strengthening of security cooperation against regional threats, particularly from Iran and its deputies. It is important to note that Israel and the United Arab Emirates report that they already have security relations, but the agreement puts them in power. The parties recognize the importance of providing regular direct flights between Israel and the United Arab Emirates for passengers and cargo as an essential means for the development and promotion of their relations.
They recognize the rights, privileges and obligations recognized in the multilateral air services agreements to which they are parties and all the amendments that apply to both parties, in particular the 1944 Convention on International Civil Aviation, which was signed in Chicago on December 7, 1944, and the 1944 International Air Traffic Agreement. As a result, the parties will conclude as soon as possible all necessary civil aviation agreements and arrangements and therefore strive to create an international air corridor between their two states, in accordance with international law. They also conclude and conclude the necessary visa and consular agreements and arrangements to facilitate the movement of citizens of both states. The staging of the event seemed to stimulate the scene more than 25 years ago in the same place as when President Bill Clinton negotiated a deal – and an iconic handshake – between Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. Mr. Trump said there would be “peace in the Middle East,” a phrase that typically suggests a solution to Israel`s conflict with the Palestinians. Then, to the sounds of the bearer natous horns and the bright pools, the four men moved to a long table in front of the South Portico to sign three sets of agreements in front of a seated audience that estimated the White House at 800 people, many of whom were not wearing masks. India welcomed the agreement and said that the two nations were its allies and that it had always supported peace and prosperity in West Asia.
Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar had previously said that UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan had called him to discuss the agreement. On 16 August 2020, Israel and the United Arab Emirates opened direct telephone services. The emigrating company APEX National Investment and the Israeli group Tera have signed an agreement on partners in research on COVID-19, making it the first commercial contract between the companies of the two countries since the normalization of relations. Mossad Director Yossi Cohen arrived in the United Arab Emirates on 18 August to discuss security policy cooperation, regional developments and issues with national security advisor Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan with National Security Adviser Tayoun al-Zayed Al Nahyan.
